The old way, everyone unmutes, says where they are and waits for the next person, forty times over, and the room is lost by person six. With StreamAlive, they type in the chat.

In a Teams or Zoom meeting, “Lisbon” is sent in the chat and appears in the map on the shared screen, which asks “Where are you joining from?” Everyone else’s answers follow.

Everyone answers at once, and the map fills in seconds, not minutes. Nobody waits for their turn, so nobody drifts off before the session has even started.

How to map where your audience is, in Zoom or Teams.

  1. You let StreamAlive into your meeting and share your screen.
  2. Your audience types their city in the meeting chat. That’s all they do.
  3. StreamAlive drops a pin for every place and flies the map to each one.

  1. Paste your Teams or Zoom meeting link into StreamAlive and press Connect. It waits in the lobby like a note-taking app. Admit it once and it starts reading the chat.

  2. Share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window, the same way you share slides. Or present the map from your PowerPoint deck.

    This is the step people miss. Your audience can only answer a question they can see.

  3. Everyone sees your map question the moment you share. It’s a slide in your StreamAlive presentation, set up beforehand.

  4. They type where they are in the meeting chat, in their own words: “Joining from rainy Manchester!” works. No QR code, no link, no phone.

  5. Each place drops a pin as it’s sent and the map flies to it. The same place twice makes its pin grow.

  6. After the session, the report shows who took part and how each question landed. Connect StreamAlive to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot and ask what the room thought.

Questions about Magic Maps

How do I show where my audience is joining from in Zoom?

Create a Magic Map in StreamAlive, connect StreamAlive to your Zoom meeting with the StreamAlive app for Zoom or the meeting link, then share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window. Ask people to type their city in the Zoom chat, and a pin drops for each one.

Do people have to type just the city?

No. They write it however they like: “Joining from rainy Manchester!” and “interning in Auckland NZ” both drop a pin. StreamAlive takes the first place named in each message.

What if a place isn’t recognized?

Places come from a world database, so a few very local names may not be found. The message stays in the chat with no pin, so ask people to add their city or country.

Can someone add more than one place?

Yes, if you allow more than one answer per person. Each place goes in its own message.

Can I show one continent instead of the world?

Yes. Choose the world or one continent (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America or South America), before the session or from the menu on the map while it runs. You can zoom in and out too.

What else can I ask on a map?

Anything with a place for an answer: where people would go on holiday, where they grew up, where their favorite food comes from, or a geography quiz, like where the Taj Mahal is.

Does the map show anyone’s exact location?

No. It only shows the place someone types in the chat, never their device’s location.

How do I add a Magic Map to PowerPoint?

Install the StreamAlive add-in, add a Magic Map to a slide, connect StreamAlive to your Teams or Zoom meeting and present in Slide Show. When the slide is up, answers typed in the meeting chat drop pins on your slide.

Can I run a Magic Map in Google Meet or with Google Slides?

Yes. In Google Meet, connect StreamAlive with the meeting link and people answer in the Meet chat. Google Slides can’t show live content inside a slide, so StreamAlive gives you a quick link to paste on your slide. Clicking it while you present opens the map in a browser tab: connect StreamAlive to your meeting from there and share that tab.

Do participants need an app, an account or a QR code?

Not online. In Zoom, Teams and Google Meet they type in the meeting chat they’re already using. In a room, people open StreamAlive’s browser chat with a QR code or a short link and code, still with no app or account.

Why does StreamAlive need to join my meeting?

It reads the meeting chat so it can turn places into pins on the map. It joins the way a note-taking app does, and you admit it. It doesn’t record your meeting and has no access to your video, audio or shared screen.

Does it work for hybrid and in-person sessions?

Yes. People in the room answer in StreamAlive’s browser chat on a phone or laptop, and people online answer in the meeting chat. Both feed the same map.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Sessions with up to five participants are free, with every interaction included and no card needed. Paid plans start at $100 for a pack of 4 sessions, and Pro is $75 a month, billed annually.
