Webinar polls and word clouds in your or Zoom chat.

In a Zoom webinar, attendees can type in the chat. StreamAlive reads that chat and turns their answers into polls, word clouds and maps on your shared screen.

Works where you do: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, YouTube Live, LinkedIn Live, Substack Live and Restream. Also on your PowerPoint slides.

Other tools ask attendees to open a link or scan a code and watch their attention drift to another tab. With StreamAlive, they type in the webinar chat.

In a Teams or Zoom meeting, “Type in the chat.” is sent in the chat and appears in the poll on the shared screen, which asks “How do you vote in this poll?” Everyone else’s answers follow.

Attendees are already in the webinar chat, so there’s nothing to open and nothing to explain. What they type appears on the screen you’re sharing, and they stay with you.

How to run a poll in a Zoom webinar.

  1. You let StreamAlive into your webinar and share your screen.
  2. Your attendees type their answers in the webinar chat. That’s all they do.
  3. StreamAlive puts every answer on your screen as it arrives.
  1. Paste your webinar’s panelist link into StreamAlive’s web app, or open the StreamAlive app in Zoom. With the web app, StreamAlive joins as a panelist.

  2. Share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window, the same way you share slides.

Attendees can only answer a question they can see, and only if your webinar lets them chat.

  3. Everyone sees your poll the moment you share. It’s a slide in your StreamAlive presentation, set up beforehand.

  4. They type their answer in the webinar chat. No QR code, no link, no second tab.

  5. Every answer lands on your shared screen as it’s sent, so attendees watch the webinar respond to them.

  6. After the webinar, the report shows how many people took part, how much more they typed during your interactions, and who was most active.

Illustration of the six steps. The presenter pastes the meeting link into StreamAlive and presses Connect. StreamAlive waits in the meeting lobby and is admitted, then posts in the chat that it is reading the chat. The presenter presses Share and picks the StreamAlive window, a word cloud question appears on the shared screen, and answers typed in the chat land in the word cloud as they arrive. After the session, the report shows who took part and how each question landed, and an AI assistant can answer questions about it.

Four things to run during your Zoom webinar.

Each one is a question on your shared screen that attendees answer in the webinar chat. Run one between slides, before the Q&A, or to close.

  1. Open with a poll

Find out who’s watching before you start. Attendees type 1, 2 or 3, and the bars move as they vote.

Before StreamAlive, we were using other well-known QR-based interaction tools. About 60 – 70% of people would follow a QR code. Now that all they have to do is type in the chat, we see more like 90 – 95% of participants engaging.

Questions about StreamAlive for Zoom webinars

How does StreamAlive join a Zoom webinar?

With the web app, as a panelist: paste your webinar’s panelist link into StreamAlive. You can also open the StreamAlive app inside Zoom. It reads the webinar chat and nothing else.

Why does it need a panelist link?

In a Zoom webinar, the StreamAlive bot can only read the chat if it’s admitted as a panelist, not as an attendee. Your panelist link is on the webinar’s page in Zoom.

Why can’t StreamAlive join my webinar?

One reason is attendee authentication. If your webinar requires it, the StreamAlive bot can’t join, so turn that option off when you create the webinar.

Read the help guide
Can attendees answer if they can’t unmute?

Yes. Attendees answer by typing in the webinar chat. Check that your webinar lets attendees chat, because that’s where they take part.

Doesn’t Zoom already have polls and Q&A?

It does. Zoom’s polls appear as a prompt for each participant, and Q&A has its own panel. With StreamAlive, attendees answer in the chat they’re already using, and StreamAlive’s AI collects their questions from it, even without a question mark.

How many attendees can take part?

A Session Pack takes up to 250 participants per session, Pro up to 1,000 under its fair use policy, and Scale has larger limits. StreamAlive has been tested live with more than 45,000 participants: expecting more than your plan allows? Talk to us.

See the plans
What can StreamAlive see in my webinar?

It reads the chat only. It doesn’t record or access your video, audio or shared screen.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Sessions with up to five participants are free, with every interaction included and no card needed. Paid plans start at $100 for a pack of 4 sessions, and Pro is $75 a month, billed annually.
