We used to tell people to put their phones away so they wouldn’t be distracted, then later ask them to pull them out again to scan a QR code. That never sat right with us. StreamAlive removed that contradiction completely.

How to run StreamAlive in Google Meet.

It’s the same three moves as anywhere: let StreamAlive into your meeting, share your screen, ask. If you’d rather not admit the bot, the StreamAlive Chrome extension can read a Meet chat too.

  1. Add your meeting

    In StreamAlive, add a session, pick Google Meet and paste your meeting link. Add a presentation if you have one, or run quick interactions without one.

  2. Press Present

    StreamAlive opens its presentation screen in a new tab and asks you to admit its bot. You can also show people an overlay that tells them to type their answers in the chat.

  3. Admit the bot

    Meet tells you StreamAlive is asking to join. Admit it. Without it, StreamAlive can’t read the chat and your questions won’t get answers.

  4. Present the tab

    Use Present now in Meet to share the StreamAlive tab, the same way you’d share slides. Your question is already on screen.

  5. Ask in the chat

    Ask people to type their answer in the Meet chat. Bars move, words grow and pins drop as they send it.

    Questions about StreamAlive for Google Meet

    How do I run a poll in Google Meet?

    Create the poll in StreamAlive, add your Meet link as a session, press Present and admit the StreamAlive bot when Meet asks. Then present the StreamAlive tab with Present now, and ask people to type their choice in the Meet chat.

    Doesn’t Google Meet already have polls?

    In some Google Workspace editions it does: the host starts a poll from the Meeting tools menu. StreamAlive adds word clouds, maps, quizzes, the Winning Wheel and your own themes, and everyone answers in the Meet chat they’re already using.

    Why does StreamAlive ask to join my Meet?

    StreamAlive reads the Meet chat so it can turn answers into polls and word clouds. It joins the way a note-taking app does, and you admit it. If you’d rather not, the StreamAlive Chrome extension can read the chat from your browser.

    Can I use Google Slides with it?

    Google Slides can’t show live content inside a slide, so paste StreamAlive’s quick link on your slide instead. Clicking it while you present opens the interaction in a new tab: connect StreamAlive to your Meet from there and share that tab. Or build your questions into a StreamAlive presentation and present that.

    Do participants need to install anything?

    No. They type in the Meet chat they’re already using. There’s no app to install, no account to create and no QR code to scan.

    What can StreamAlive see in my meeting?

    It reads the meeting chat only. It doesn’t record or access your video, audio or shared screen.

    Is there a free plan?

    Yes. Sessions with up to five participants are free, with every interaction included and no card needed. Paid plans start at $100 for a pack of 4 sessions, and Pro is $75 a month, billed annually.
