Live quizzes in the Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet chat.

Put a question on your shared screen and start the clock. Everyone types 1, 2, 3 or 4 in the Zoom, Teams or Google Meet chat, and the fastest right answers score the most. No QR code, no phones, nothing to install.

Works where you do: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, YouTube Live, LinkedIn Live, Substack Live and Restream. Also on your PowerPoint slides.

Other tools ask people to get their phone out, scan a QR code, open a link and enter a code, and then they get distracted by notifications. With StreamAlive, they type in the chat.

In a Teams or Zoom meeting, “3” is sent in the chat and appears in the quiz on the shared screen, which asks “How do you answer this quiz?” Everyone else’s answers follow.

Answering is one number in the chat. Nobody fumbles for a phone while the clock runs, so notifications never get the chance to pull them away, and their attention stays on the question.

We used to tell people to put their phones away so they wouldn’t be distracted, then later ask them to pull them out again to scan a QR code. That never sat right with us. StreamAlive removed that contradiction completely.

How to run a quiz in Zoom or Teams.

  1. You let StreamAlive into your meeting and share your screen.
  2. Your audience types 1, 2, 3 or 4 in the meeting chat before time runs out.
  3. StreamAlive scores every right answer by speed and keeps the leaderboard.
  1. Paste your Teams or Zoom meeting link into StreamAlive and press Connect. It waits in the lobby like a note-taking app. Admit it once and it starts reading the chat.

  2. Share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window, the same way you share slides. Or present the quiz from your PowerPoint deck.

This is the step people miss. Your audience can only answer a question they can see.

  3. Everyone sees your question the moment you share. It’s a slide in your StreamAlive presentation, set up beforehand with the right answer and the timer.

  4. They type the option’s number in the meeting chat before the timer runs out. No QR code, no link, no phone.

  5. Answers count until zero. Then the right answer is revealed, and the fastest right answers score the most.

  6. After the session, the report shows who took part and how each question landed. Connect StreamAlive to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot and ask what the room thought.

Illustration of the six steps. The presenter pastes the meeting link into StreamAlive and presses Connect. StreamAlive waits in the meeting lobby and is admitted, then posts in the chat that it is reading the chat. The presenter presses Share and picks the StreamAlive window, a poll appears on the shared screen, and answers typed in the chat fill the poll bars as they arrive. After the session, the report shows who took part and how each question landed, and an AI assistant can answer questions about it.

A quiz on its own, or on your PowerPoint slide.

Share the StreamAlive window and the quiz fills your screen. Or put it on a slide with the PowerPoint add-in, share PowerPoint as usual, and the answers come in right there on the slide.

A Microsoft Teams meeting. First the host shares the StreamAlive window on its own; then the host shares PowerPoint, where the same interaction sits on a slide. Answers typed in the Teams chat fill the interaction either way. Choose a slide in the slide list to switch interaction, or type your own answer in the chat.

Points for speed, and a leaderboard after every question.

Each question counts down. The faster someone types the right answer, the more points they score, from 1,000 down to 200. Press “Show leaderboard” after any question to see who’s ahead: points add up across every quiz in your session.

Questions about live quizzes

How do I run a quiz in Zoom?

Create the quiz in StreamAlive, connect StreamAlive to your Zoom meeting with the StreamAlive app for Zoom or the meeting link, then share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window. When a question comes up, the timer starts and people type 1, 2, 3 or 4 in the Zoom chat.

How does scoring work?

A right answer scores between 1,000 points, if it comes in straight away, and 200, if it comes in as time runs out, falling evenly in between. Wrong answers and answers after zero score nothing. You can change the most and the fewest points.

How long does each question last?

As long as you set: 15 seconds unless you change it. Answers after zero don’t count, and the right answer is revealed the moment time runs out.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes. Press “Show leaderboard” after any question. Points add up across every quiz in your session, so you can crown an overall winner at the end.

How do people answer?

By typing the option’s number, 1 to 4, in the meeting chat. Each person’s first answer counts, so there’s no guessing every number.

Can a question have a picture?

Yes. Add a picture beside the options: a chart to read, a place to name, a step in a process to spot.

What’s the difference between a quiz and multiple choice?

A quiz counts down, scores faster right answers higher and keeps a leaderboard. Multiple choice has no timer and no points: people answer, and you show the correct answer when you’re ready.

See how multiple choice works
How do I add a quiz to PowerPoint?

Install the StreamAlive add-in, add a quiz to a slide, connect StreamAlive to your Teams or Zoom meeting and present in Slide Show. When the slide is up, answers typed in the meeting chat come in on your slide.

Can I run a quiz in Google Meet or with Google Slides?

Yes. In Google Meet, connect StreamAlive with the meeting link and people answer in the Meet chat. Google Slides can’t show live content inside a slide, so StreamAlive gives you a quick link to paste on your slide. Clicking it while you present opens the quiz in a browser tab: connect StreamAlive to your meeting from there and share that tab.

Do participants need an app, an account or a QR code?

Not online. In Zoom, Teams and Google Meet they type in the meeting chat they’re already using. In a room, people open StreamAlive’s browser chat with a QR code or a short link and code, still with no app or account.

Why does StreamAlive need to join my meeting?

It reads the meeting chat so it can turn answers into the quiz. It joins the way a note-taking app does, and you admit it. It doesn’t record your meeting and has no access to your video, audio or shared screen.

Does it work for hybrid and in-person sessions?

Yes. People in the room answer in StreamAlive’s browser chat on a phone or laptop, and people online answer in the meeting chat. Both feed the same quiz and leaderboard.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Sessions with up to five participants are free, with every interaction included and no card needed. Paid plans start at $100 for a pack of 4 sessions, and Pro is $75 a month, billed annually.

Run your next quiz in the chat.

Free for sessions of up to five people. No card needed.
