With other spinner wheels, you open the participant list, copy every name, paste them into a wheel site and share another tab, and the wheel comes covered in ads. With StreamAlive, people type in the chat and they’re on the wheel.

In a Teams or Zoom meeting, “Type in the chat.” is sent in the chat and appears in the spinner wheel on the shared screen, which asks “Who wins the hamper?” Everyone else’s answers follow.

That’s all your audience does, and all you do is press Spin. Nobody waits while you copy names, and there are no ads on your screen.

How to run a spinner wheel in Zoom or Teams.

  1. You let StreamAlive into your meeting and share your screen.
  2. Your audience types anything in the meeting chat. That’s all they do.
  3. StreamAlive puts everyone who types on the wheel, ready for you to spin.

  1. Paste your Teams or Zoom meeting link into StreamAlive and press Connect. It waits in the lobby like a note-taking app. Admit it once and it starts reading the chat.

  2. Share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window, the same way you share slides. Or present the wheel from your PowerPoint deck.

    This is the step people miss. Your audience can only answer a question they can see.

  3. Everyone sees your wheel the moment you share. It’s a slide in your StreamAlive presentation, set up beforehand.

  4. They type anything in the meeting chat, or your keyword if you set one. No QR code, no link, no phone.

  5. Each new name lands on the wheel as it’s typed. Press Spin, and the winner gets a rosette and confetti.

  6. After the session, the report shows who took part and how each question landed. Connect StreamAlive to Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot and ask what the room thought.

How do I do a spinner wheel in Zoom?

Create a Winning Wheel in StreamAlive, connect StreamAlive to your Zoom meeting with the StreamAlive app for Zoom or the meeting link, then share your screen and pick the StreamAlive window. Everyone who types in the Zoom chat lands on the wheel. Press Spin to pick a winner.

Do I have to copy and paste the names?

No. Everyone who types in the meeting chat goes on the wheel by themselves. If you already have a list, type or paste it in instead.

Can only some people enter?

Yes. Set a keyword, such as #win, and only people who type it get on the wheel, so the draw is for those who chose to enter.

Can I pick more than one winner?

Yes. After a spin, take the winner off the wheel and spin again, as many times as you like.

How many names can go on the wheel?

Up to 5,000, so even a big webinar or live stream fits on one wheel.

Does Zoom or Teams have a spinner wheel?

Neither has one built in. The usual way is a separate wheel website: copy the names in from the participant list, then share that tab. StreamAlive fills its wheel from the chat instead, on your shared screen or your PowerPoint slide.

Is it random?

Yes. Every name on the wheel has the same chance, wherever it sits.

Are there sounds and confetti?

Confetti falls on every win. You can also turn on sounds for the spin: a start, a tick as it turns and a fanfare for the winner.

Does it work in a YouTube live stream?

Yes. Connect StreamAlive to your stream, or use the StreamAlive Chrome extension, and everyone who comments goes on the wheel. It works the same way in LinkedIn Live, Restream and StreamYard.

How do I add a spinner wheel to PowerPoint?

Install the StreamAlive add-in, add a spinner wheel to a slide, connect StreamAlive to your Teams or Zoom meeting and present in Slide Show. When the slide is up, answers typed in the meeting chat put people on the wheel on your slide.

Do participants need an app, an account or a QR code?

Not online. In Zoom, Teams and Google Meet they type in the meeting chat they’re already using. In a room, people open StreamAlive’s browser chat with a QR code or a short link and code, still with no app or account.

Why does StreamAlive need to join my meeting?

It reads the meeting chat so it can turn the people typing into names on the wheel. It joins the way a note-taking app does, and you admit it. It doesn’t record your meeting and has no access to your video, audio or shared screen.

Does it work for hybrid and in-person sessions?

Yes. People in the room answer in StreamAlive’s browser chat on a phone or laptop, and people online answer in the meeting chat. Both feed the same wheel.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Sessions with up to five participants are free, with every interaction included and no card needed. Paid plans start at $100 for a pack of 4 sessions, and Pro is $75 a month, billed annually.
