Iterating fast without the rapid unscheduled disassembly

Aloha StreamAlivers!

Last week saw SpaceX attempting to get the largest rocket ever launched into space. If you caught the livestream (as 11m people and I did!) you would have seen the rocket spectacularly explode minutes into launch and then cut to mission control with the SpaceX team wildly celebrating.

Why would they be celebrating years of work that ended in a rapid unscheduled disassembly?

For SpaceX, getting the largest rocket on the launch pad and clearing the tower without obliterating it was a huge win for the team. Everything is an iteration to get their rocket into space.

Although we hope we don’t suffer any rapid unscheduled disassemblies at StreamAlive, we know that to get this rocket into space we’re going to move fast and keep iterating by listening to what our customers want.

We know we’re on the right track when we get unsolicited comments like this (from a business user)

Moving fast, trying not to break things

Last week saw the release of another new engagement feature that has been requested by our users: the Winning Wheel.

It allows hosts to enter users actively engaged in the live chat into a contest, with the winner chosen from a roulette-type wheel.

This is a great way to reward viewers and we can’t wait to see how StreamAlive users will motivate and reward their viewers using this feature.

What next?

We’ll update you in our next newsletter on the next upcoming feature (spoiler: it’s one of the most requested meeting platforms! In fact, the most used one in the world)

U&I&StreamAlive = ❤

Staying on the community theme, U&I is a non-profit in Bangalore that aims to help students in underserved communities. They run regular webinars exploring ways in which they can foster a better community in the city.

Last year, they used StreamAlive to find out what Bangalore means to its viewers and used Wonder Words to collate the responses into a word cloud. Everyone on the webinar got involved to see their responses splashed up on the screen—making sure everyone felt heard. So much better than just words flying by in a chat window!
